Stunt Kites

Often referred to as “sport kites”, this genre of kite technically covers any sort of controllable kite flown with two or more strings… First making a commercial appearance in the 1980s, stunt or sport kites have evolved from wooden dowel and cloth to specially made carbon and high strength polyester ripstop.

Although with several sub-categories stunt or sport kites are usually classified in two main categories: 2-line ou 4-line stunt kites. At Kiteland you can find a selection of stunt kites from some the most know international brands.

  • Stunt 2-lines
    Stunt 2-lines

    Often referred to “sport” or “stunt” kites, these two string kites at the very least allow a pilot to steer the kite throughout the sky using a combination of right and left hand inputs. Experienced pilots can also stall, flip, float, spin and roll up their kites in mid-air during “slack line” or trick flying.

    Although the delta shape is most popular, dual line kites are also commonly available in diamond and parafoil designs.

    Stunt 4-lines

    If dual line kites were jet planes, quad line (also called “multiline”) kites would be the helicopter of the kite world. A total of four lines provides control over nearly every edge of the kite, allowing an experienced pilot to hover mid-air anywhere in the sky, in any position.

    Most quad line kites are able to take off and land upside-down, spin in place, skim the ground by mere inches and control flight speed to a very high degree, all of which has made them one of the more popular kite types for large group team flying all over the world.
